Childhood
Gavin Leslie Davies was born November 7th, 1978, five minutes before his younger twin brother was born. The two got the family of what would eventually be five boys rolling. As a child he was a sneaky child, proving to be difficult to manage and even harder to manage when he started to gather little brothers to do his bidding. Gavin and his twin brother Logan would get into insurmountable amounts of trouble. He was a devilish little boy, with a smile to match and charm. He had quite a few girlfriends by the time he hit kindergarten and he knew he was hot stuff to other five year old girls. He'd pick them flowers and give them rocks to show his affections. Though that was short lived because no little girl likes to be one of four girls vying for the affections of just one measly little boy. He got in trouble for having a "private party" where he promised to show them his if they showed him theirs. Needless to say he was told not to socialize with girls like that anymore. That cut his fascination with girls short for a period of time. Until he hit 5th grade.
He was a pretty chill child. Hard to upset and always just wanting to explore and have an adventure. Most of all he just wanted to have a good time and do what he wanted. And mess with his little brothers. To this day his brothers are his best friends and if they're all together in one room it means trouble.
Teenage & Young Adulthood
Normal teenager times. Did a movie. Discovered sex. Went to high school, skipped a grade. Did plays. Got into Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Went to college. Got his ASS kicked and handed to him by teachers. Graduated and got an agent thanks to their showcase. Thanks CCM. No one really cares about this section, tbh.
Rocky Horror Show
When he graduated CCM he was offered a role in the RHPS as a Phantom. Getting to rock out and be weird and molest people sounded like a blast and he spent his entire experience with the show being in awe and feeling very incredibly blessed to get to do what he was getting to do. He got to sleep in, stay up late, and pretend to be someone he wasn't - it didn't get much better than that for him. He also was fortunate to work with some pretty super epic people like Christopher Keregan, Rose Madison, and Lucas Meyer. He spent a lot of his time studying their work habits and how they acted around people. They were true professionals and pretty much were doing exactly what he wanted to do with his life, thus, he had to pay attention. He spent a year with the show, making sure to network the hell out of the situation and to attend and perform at as many concerts as he could. He was eager to learn and get out there.
Thoroughly Modern Millie
Gavin was shocked when he learned he'd been offered the role of Jimmy in Millie. He'd been at home, making out with his current flavor of the week girlfriend when the call came. He just leaped off the couch and did a little victory dance in the living room. Needless to say the girl left, but he didn't care. He was going to do another Broadway show with some amazing people and life was pretty damned great. He was ecstatic to have the opportunity to work with Noelene Freeman, who he had worshiped as a collegian and done various reports on in school. He was humbled by the experience - he loved the show and the people he worked with. The show was a blast and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. Gavin was shocked beyond belief when he was nominated for a Tony Award and incredibly proud when the show and his coworkers won. He made some great friends while he did this show and to this day values their friendships greatly.
Emily Nora Davies
While performing in Millie Gavin met Holly Harper. A pretty toe headed girl. She was flighty and beautiful and enjoyed just being with him. They weren't all that serious when Holly discovered she was pregnant. Her parents were devout Catholic so abortion was out of the question for which Gavin was grateful for. He hadn't planned on being a father at any point in his twenties, but Emily Nora Davies had her own sweet agenda. From the moment he heard his daughter's heart beat he was in love, but nothing could compare to when he got to hold the screaming red and balding little old lady that was placed into his arms on February 3rd, 2004. Gavin, Holly, and Emily played house for two years until things started to deteriorate between the family. Holly wanted her freedom and to explore the world, being a mother wasn't something she'd wanted in her life. She'd tried it and done her best, but it just wasn't what she wanted. So Holly packed it up, said her tearful goodbyes, and left to explore the world. Gavin has full custody of his daughter and she has a relationship with her mother - the two talk on webcam every chance Holly gets and she sends her daughter a gift from whatever city she's staying in at the time. Gavin's sad he can't give his daughter the family she deserves. There are no hard feelings between Emily's parents and Em has a great relationship with both sets of grandparents. Emily's live is anything but conventional and normal yet the little girl is thriving. She visits whatever show her daddy is doing every night.
Hairspray
After Millie ended he was offered the opportunity to replace Link in Hairspray. With a new baby to support it made sense to move right on, especially with a show as light and fun as Hairspray.
Grey Gardens
When his contract was up with Hairspray, Gavin auditioned and booked Grey Gardens. He was extremely excited to work with more talented people and maybe even count himself among them. While he was doing Grey Gardens Holly picked up and left, leaving him with a two year old little girl to raise on his own. Even during this dark time in his life he was able to pick up and continue on, even if his mother moved in with him for a few months to help him figure things out as a single father.
Witches of Eastwick
After Grey Gardens Gavin was prepared to take some time off to just be a dad to his daughter, but another opportunity arose. Unfortunately (or fortunately) it ended up not being as big of a hit as they were expecting. It was fun none-the-less and he met some great people along the way.
RENT
Gavin had been a huge fanboy of RENT before he was even offered the role. He hadn't been exactly just offered it without any proof that he was capable, there were several auditions where he was put through the ringer before being offered the role of Mark. He would see this role through to the end of the production in September of 2008. It was an experience of a lifetime for him and it even got captured on DVD and BluRay.
The Little Mermaid
With RENT having ended Gavin was looking forward to, again, taking time to just be a dad to Emily but as luck would have it another opportunity that was too good to pass up came knocking. Originally he wasn't going to take the role of Prince Eric, but after his mother's poking and prodding and seeing how excited Emily was about it he couldn't not do it. His little girl's face lights up every time she comes to the theatre and it is a truly spectacular sight to see, one he wouldn't give up for anything in the world.
Personality: In Words
Devious. Mischevious. Chill. Charming. Easily entertained. Loving. Clueless about little girl's fashions. Can be immature. Supportive. Not easily nervous. Has no inhibitions.
Random facts
Is a twin. Big brother to adavies. Father to Emily Davies, age 5. Likes bananas and yogurt. Makes a mean grilled cheese. Reads to his daughter every night before bed, even if it's in his dressing room over the phone. Thinks that red and orange are a great combination on his little girl when playing in the park because it's easy to spot - also, any combination of plaid, polka dots, and stripes all work too. Lets his daughter dress herself which means many days of the week she dresses up as Tinkerbell, he finds this hilarious. Is not accepting the fact that Emily will be in kindergarten in the fall. Loves to sleep in, but very rarely gets to do it. Loves roller coasters and haunted houses. Loves random dance parties. |
